A steel column base plate assembly centers on a concrete footing pocket with a surrounding control joint. The Grade 50 base plate measures 2 1/2 inches thick and is secured using thirteen 2-inch diameter F1554 Grade 36 anchor bolts equipped with 3/4-inch by 4-inch by 0'-4" washers and double nuts. The concrete pocket requires a minimum 2-inch clearance and 6-inch minimum dimension, reinforced with centered number 4 trim bars. Infill concrete is specified to be cast after the column base plate has been grouted. A minimum thread projection of 1/2 inch is required above the top of each nut.
