Structural channel framing is configured to support metal deck openings between 12 inches and 48 inches in size. A C6x8.2 channel frames the edge of the opening at the underside of the deck, while a C8x11.5 channel is utilized at penthouse openings. Additional C6x8.2 channels span between joists or beams as required by the layout. The general contractor is directed to coordinate with other discipline drawings for exact locations and sizes, and to refer to structural plans for openings exceeding 4 feet in any direction.
