A continuous full-height gusset plate passes through the beam depth, centered on the column and beam web, with a thickness of three-quarters of an inch minimum and dimensions determined by the buckling-restrained brace designer. A three-eighths-inch minimum cap plate and a matching width bottom stiffener plate in Grade 50 steel connect the frame beam to the assembly, with thicknesses verified by the brace designer. A three-eighths-inch minimum continuous plate aligns with the stiffener plate beyond, while column stiffener plates and double plates are provided where required by the brace designer. Five-sixteenths-inch fillet welds are specified on three sides and on both the near side and far side typically across the connection elements.
