An HSS8x8 girt connects to a wide-flange column flange using a 3/8-inch by 9-inch by 9-inch end plate welded with a 1/4-inch fillet weld. A 4x4x1/2-inch angle clip, 0 feet 6 inches long, is secured to the column and girt with two 7/8-inch diameter A325 bolts centered on the assembly. Full-width 1/2-inch stiffener plates are welded to the column flanges with 1/4-inch fillet welds top and bottom. Additional connection stability is provided by 1/4-inch fillet welds on the end plates.
