A buckling-restrained brace connects to a structural steel column and framing beam through a slotted gusset plate welded to the assembly. Complete-joint-penetration welds with demand-critical requirements attach the beam flanges and web to the column. Stiffener plates on near side and far side are provided on the column and beam as required by the brace manufacturer. Continuity plates are installed on near side and far side within the column web, with details referenced elsewhere in the drawings. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld applied on three sides secures the gusset plate and related attachments.
