A vertical steel pipe guardrail post is welded to a stair stringer channel profile using a one-quarter-inch-thick stiffener plate. The post features a one-and-one-half-inch diameter steel pipe handrail configuration with three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds typical at connections. The stair fabricator provides the pipe metal rail on top of the stringer per California Building Code standards.
