An existing C12x25 channel is welded to an existing plate, which bears on an S8 beam sized per plan. The channel is attached to the plate with quarter-inch fillet welds featuring five-inch minimum lengths at the beam connection. The connection plate measures one foot, eight inches maximum in length and is welded to the supporting structural steel member with quarter-inch welds along its edges.
