A structural steel column bears on a baseplate anchored to a concrete foundation and surrounded by a slab on-grade blockout. A buckling-restrained brace connects to a gusset plate welded to the column and baseplate, reinforced by stiffener plates on the near side and far side as required. A doubler plate is welded to the column using a complete-joint-penetration weld at the baseplate. The gusset plate features bolted connections with specified bolt diameters and lengths.
