A structural steel brace frame connects to a concrete foundation via an 80 inches by 50 inches by 3 inches A992 steel base plate secured with fourteen 1-1/4 inch diameter F1554 Grade 36 threaded rods and 3/4 inch by 4 inches by 4 inches steel plate washers with double nuts over 1-1/2 inches of non-shrink grout with 36 inches of embedment. A shear lug measuring 5-1/2 inches deep by 2 inches thick by 30 inches long, fabricated from A36 steel, is welded to the underside of the base plate with a 5/16 inch fillet weld and embedded into the concrete footing. The assembly bears on a concrete footing beneath a concrete slab on grade over 6 inches of thick road base.
