Ceiling struts and lateral bracing members span between existing open-web steel bar joists and connect to intermediate metal stud framing. A continuous strut channel attaches to the bottom chord of the bar joist using a specialized clamping hanger spaced within six inches maximum of joist panel points. Metal studs frame perpendicular to the joist system and are stabilized by the ceiling strut assembly. A plan view detail clarifies the attachment of the strut channel to the supporting framing elements.
