A structural steel column cross-section displays framing members connecting to the column flanges with a slope ratio of 2.5 to 1 minimum. Typical top and bottom flange connections are welded as detailed at the top of the column per note 2. A minimum three-inch typical clearance or spacing is maintained at the transition.
