This assembly connects a diagonal brace to a vertical column at the base plate. A 3/4-inch thick gusset plate is welded to the column base plate and the column web, with the base plate extended as needed to support the gusset. The column web is reinforced with a 3/8-inch thick stiffener plate located 6 inches above the base plate, secured with 5/16-inch fillet welds on both sides. The diagonal brace member is bolted to the gusset plate using a six-bolt pattern with 2 1/4-inch spacing. The brace is oriented at a 62.12-degree angle relative to the column grid line.
