A structural steel bracing connection utilizes a one-quarter-inch-thick gusset plate welded to the face of a beam or base plate and the face of a column. The diagonal brace aligns with the center line of the brace per the elevation and connects to the gusset plate using a three-quarter-inch-diameter typical erection bolt. Fillet welds of one-quarter-inch and five-sixteenth-inch sizes secure the plate assemblies to the structural members as indicated by standard welding symbols.
