The handrail post connects to a hollow structural section stringer sized per plan with three-sixteenths inch typical fillet welds. A one-quarter inch thick stiffener plate is welded to the HSS stringer with a three-sixteenths inch fillet weld on both sides for added reinforcement. Field welding is indicated by the weld-all-around symbol at the post-to-stringer interface.
