Open web steel joist bridging interrupted by mechanical ducts or units requires supplementary members installed per the joist manufacturer. Additional horizontal bridging is added to each side of the interrupted joist space. Additional diagonal bridging is also placed on each side of the opening as required. Existing bridging members are cut as needed to clear the duct or unit while maintaining structural stability.
