A reinforced concrete stem wall intersects a grade beam foundation with an isolation joint and a concrete pour back surrounding a structural steel column base plate. Additional vertical reinforcing bars are placed on each side of the base plate where the concrete wall overlap occurs. Additional horizontal reinforcing bars are installed where typical bars lack adequate clearance, maintaining one and a half inches of clearance. The concrete footing is detailed to be thicker than the grade beam.
