Cored holes in concrete over metal deck are limited to a maximum diameter of six inches with typical spacing rules relative to the direction of the deck span. Holes parallel to the deck span require a minimum clear distance equal to the diameter of the smaller adjacent hole, while holes perpendicular to the deck span require a minimum distance of four times the diameter of the larger adjacent hole. Individual holes less than six inches in diameter that cut no more than one web require no additional reinforcing. Coring must not occur before the concrete has fully cured.
