An open web steel joist bears on a structural steel beam with a minimum twenty-five millimeter extension and sixty-five millimeter bearing width. A one hundred by ten millimeter steel plate slotted to fit into the beam web extends from the joist seat. Metal deck spans across the assembly with an optional concrete topping poured above. A secondary intersecting steel beam or channel frames into the primary beam adjacent to the joist bearing.
