A hollow structural section beam frames into a hollow structural section column via a three-eighths-inch thick knife plate welded to the column face with quarter-inch fillet welds. The beam is slotted to receive the knife plate and secured with one three-quarter-inch diameter A325N through bolt. A bearing plate measuring three-eighths-inch by the beam width is welded beneath the connection. All steel located above the roof beam is galvanized, and plate-to-plate connections are welded with quarter-inch fillet welds.
