Steel joists and a joist girder frame into a steel column utilizing a column cap plate with slotted holes and a 7/8-inch by 7-inch by 3-foot long knife plate welded with a quarter-inch fillet weld. The joist seats connect to the cap plate using three-quarter-inch diameter A325 high-strength bolts in slotted holes, with four-three-quarter-inch bolts perpendicular and four-three-quarter-inch bolts parallel to the joist. A tie plate measuring seven-eighths-inch by 10 inches connects with four one-and-one-eighth-inch diameter A325N high-strength bolts centered in 3-inch slotted holes parallel to the joist. Three-quarter-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to the column, and joist chords are left unwelded to the plates with a minimum 6-inch by 6-inch plate. Field-installed nailers are located over girders per the framing plans.
