Metal studs connect to vertical deflection clips using two number ten sheet metal screws with minimum three-eighth-inch diameter washers in three-sixteenth by two-and-one-half-inch vertical slotted holes for four total fasteners installed snug tight only. Custom fabricated fourteen-gauge clips or pre-manufactured vertical deflection clips provide movement clearance. Clip angles are placed at both sides of jamb studs designated J2, J3, or J4 with fillet welds. A closure plate is provided per plan.
