Additional reinforcing bars equal to half the area of the interrupted reinforcement are placed around the wall opening spaced at four inches. Hairpin bars matching the interrupted bar size are provided typically at each interrupted reinforcement location. Laps for the vertical and horizontal bars extend per the structural wall elevation requirements up to a maximum of two feet.
