A wide flange steel column is anchored to a base plate with a perimeter fillet weld sized per AISC minimum requirements or as indicated. The base plate features four anchor bolts positioned near the corners with dimensions governed by project notes. General notes specify minimum edge distances of 1-3/4 inches typical, increasing to 2-1/2 inches for 1-1/4 inch diameter anchor bolts and 3 inches for 1-1/2 inch diameter anchor bolts, with a minimum spacing equal to two bolt diameters.
