A steel column bears on a base plate anchored into a four-inch recession at the top of a concrete stem wall using hooked anchor bolts. Two additional number four reinforcing bars are placed below the recession on both sides, with lap splices conforming to general notes. Two number four bars are discontinued at the stem wall recession.
