A chevron buckling-restrained brace connects to the underside of a steel beam using a gusset plate of thickness tg with five-sixteenths-inch welds. A half-inch plate is provided on the near side and far side of the gusset. Stiffener plates or full-depth connection plates are placed on each side of the beam web, welded with five-sixteenths-inch welds. The work point is located at one-half the nominal depth of the beam.
