Supplemental steel angles are field welded to the truss chord to reinforce joists and girders subjected to concentrated point loads. Additional L2x2x1/4 angles are required on each side when offset distances exceed six inches and point loads exceed specified weight thresholds. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld of one and one-half inch length is applied at each end typically. Field welding runs from the point load to the nearest panel point on the opposite chord as required.
