This connection details a structural steel beam framing into a hollow structural section column utilizing complete-joint-penetration welds at the beam flanges and a bolted shear tab at the web. Cap plates and continuity plates match the thickness of the thickest welded beam flange plus one-eighth inch and match the width of the column using ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel. Weld access holes are provided at the top and bottom of the beam flanges. Perpendicular framing is omitted for clarity.
