Steel beams connect to a vertical hollow structural section hanger using bolted shear plates on either side of the hanger. The shear plates are sized and welded according to the typical non-frame beam connection schedule. Where indicated, the shear plate extends to accommodate specific framing conditions with a one-inch clearance dimension.
