Core holes in concrete slabs supported by metal deck must maintain specific size and clearance limits relative to supporting joists and beams. Individual holes are limited to six inches in diameter typically, with a maximum six-inch diameter for holes in line. Parallel to the span of the deck, the minimum distance between holes must equal the diameter of the smaller adjacent hole. Perpendicular to the span of the deck, the minimum distance must equal four times the diameter of the larger adjacent hole. Holes must not be cut before the concrete has fully cured. Individual holes less than six inches in diameter cutting no more than one web require no reinforcing.
