An existing concrete slab on grade and footing are partially chipped away to allow access for column base strengthening and the installation of a new six-inch shear tube at a gusset plate where required by schedule. A new concrete slab on grade matches the thickness of the existing slab and is reinforced with number four bars at sixteen inches on center each way. This new slab dowels into the existing slab six inches using number four by two-foot six-inch epoxy dowels typically at the perimeter. The existing column and base plate are strengthened as specified in the structural schedule. Concrete is chipped away from the entire side where the shear tube occurs and as required for access where the shear tube does not occur.
