A structural steel beam frames into a sloped column centerline via welded top and bottom plates (PL1) and plate webs (PL3/4 ES). The beam flanges connect to the column with complete-joint-penetration and partial-joint-penetration groove welds on both the near side and far side. Internal access plates (PL1 1/2) are positioned within the column profile and detailed with 4-inch spacing and 1/2-inch radii typical. Partial-joint-penetration groove welds secure the access plates and reinforcing elements, while specific weld symbols designate near-side and far-side requirements.
