An STC-rated metal stud wall terminates at an overhead metal deck with a slotted deflection track bedded in a continuous bead of acoustical sealant. The wall framing consists of metal studs as scheduled with batt insulation in the cavity. One side is finished with one layer of 5/8-inch impact-resistant Type X gypsum wallboard, which becomes fire-rated where specified. The opposite side is finished with two layers of 5/8-inch Type X gypsum wallboard mounted on RC-1 resilient channels spaced at 24 inches on center. Sealant is applied to both sides at the deck interface, utilizing acoustic sealant at non-rated conditions and firestop sealant at rated or smoke partitions.
