Open-web steel joists bear on a structural steel girder beneath a metal roof deck. Two half-inch-diameter ASTM A325 erection bolts secure the joist top chords at all joists spanning forty feet or more. A girder bottom chord brace is provided by the joist or girder supplier, positioned typically at the joist nearest the mid-span of the girder and as otherwise determined by the supplier. Fillet welds of three-sixteenths inch typical connect the framing members.
