An HSS6x4 separator beam connects to a concrete elevator pit wall via an L8x6x1/2 angle and a one-half-inch embed plate equipped with two three-quarter-inch diameter welded studs. The hollow structural section welds to the angle with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld, and the angle secures to the embed plate with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld. The embed plate is anchored directly into the concrete face of the elevator pit.
