An incoming hollow structural section is connected to the center line of a wide flange beam using an end plate welded with partial joint penetration welds and a one-quarter inch fillet weld on three sides. A one-half inch stiffener plate is welded to the web of the wide flange beam with a one-quarter inch typical fillet weld. Four bolts secure the connection between the members.
