A floor joist connects to a structural steel beam using proprietary joist hangers and wood nailers welded to the beam flange with five-eighths inch diameter welded stud bolts at twenty-four inches on center. A 2x nailer with 16d nails at six inches on center is attached above the beam. A Simpson CMST12 strap tie with seventy-four 10d by one-and-sixteenth-inch nails at two feet eight inches on center aligns with the wall tie. Solid blocking is provided on each side, along with an angle clip and a half-inch thick sheathing draft wall secured with eight-thirteen-sixteenths-inch nails at four inches on center. Additional support includes an L 2x2x1/8 angle at mid-span of the beam with three-quarters-inch diameter machine bolts, and an L 3x3x1/4 angle with two three-quarters-inch diameter machine bolts. A one-quarter-inch plate is welded to the steel beam with typical quarter-inch fillet welds, and the steel beam size is per the floor framing plan.
