A built-up structural shape profile is defined by its web depth, web thickness, flange width, and flange thickness with complete joint penetration welds specified typically at the web-to-flange intersections. The cross-section dimensions designate web depth as Dw, web thickness as Tw, flange width as Bf, and flange thickness as Tf. Complete joint penetration welds are indicated at each side of the web-to-flange connection.
