An angle brace connects to the underside of a wide-flange beam using a quarter-inch gusset plate aligned with the center of the beam web. The brace is secured with three-quarter-inch machine bolts, using high-strength bolts where the beam forms part of a moment frame. A three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld attaches the gusset plate to the beam flange. Detail options illustrate the brace oriented both parallel and perpendicular to the supporting beam.
