An existing slab on metal deck connects to an infill concrete slab supported by an existing wide-flange steel beam. Number four epoxy dowels with six-inch embedment and spacing matching the new slab reinforcement tie the slabs together across an intentionally roughened joint with a one-quarter-inch amplitude. A structural steel angle, designated as L6x4x5/16 with long legs vertical, supports the infill slab edge bearing on a three-eighths-inch plate spaced at three feet three inches on center. One-quarter-inch stiffener plates are welded to the wide-flange beam web at three feet three inches on center using quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides.
