An HSS6x6x3/8 hollow structural section column with an internal ladder is field-measured for required length and welded with a 3/16 inch fillet weld to a 1/2 by 8 inch base plate secured by four bolts with a 5 1/2 inch gauge. The column assembly bears on grating sized per plan, which is supported by typical steel beams connected via standard single-plate beam connections.
