Steel joists bear upon a steel column fitted with a steel cap plate at the roof level. Stabilizer plates are welded to the steel column and connected to the underside of the steel joists with typical fillet welds and bolted connections. A metal roof deck spans across the top chord of the steel joists. Clearances of one and one half inches are detailed around the column connection zone.
