A 4-inch extra-strong steel pipe filled with concrete is secured to a reinforced concrete slab by a 1/2-inch by 6-inch by 6-inch steel base plate. The base plate is anchored into the slab using three number 4 welded bar anchors on each side, totaling eight anchors. Additional reinforcing steel is placed at the same layer as the main slab reinforcing around the anchorage zone. The top of the steel pipe is capped with a pressed galvanized steel cap. A 5/8-inch fillet weld connects the pipe to the base plate.
