An HSS 6x4 column supports a stair landing formed by a C12 channel stringer and metal deck with lightweight concrete fill. Angles measuring L3x3 are placed on each side of the HSS 6x4 column and welded with 1/4-inch welds on the near side and far side. A 3/8-inch plate is welded on the far side, and a 1/2-inch plate is connected with 5/16-inch welds at the top and bottom flanges. Additional connections include a 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 angle and web plate connections to the C12 stringer.
