A stair stringer connects to a wide-flange support beam positioned at the edge of a concrete slab on metal deck. A three-eighths-inch thick web stiffener plate is welded to the wide-flange beam web. The stringer is secured with a quarter-inch fillet weld specifying a minimum of twelve inches total length, distributed as a minimum of four inches on each face. Shear studs of three-quarter-inch diameter spaced at twelve inches on center anchor the concrete slab to the supporting wide-flange beam.
