A fourteenth-gauge steel reinforcing sheet spans floor or roof deck openings with a minimum ten-inch projection and twelve-inch maximum spacing to adjacent penetrations. The sheet is secured to each upstanding flute with either two eight-inch welds or one two-inch long weld using a one-eighth-inch fillet weld size. For decks without concrete fill, the sheet reinforcement may be placed above the deck profile. A minimum thirty-six-inch clear distance is maintained to the next opening.
