An HSS 6x4x3/8 elevator separator beam bears on a structural steel framing member using an L8x6x1/2 angle with long leg vertical, cut to fit. The angle is secured to the supporting steel with a three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld, and the HSS beam is connected to the angle with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld with a three-inch minimum length unless noted otherwise. A two-inch minimum clearance is maintained at the top and end of the beam framing.
