A wide-flange steel column is embedded into a concrete pier and anchored to a pile cap via a base plate and four 1-1/2-inch diameter anchor bolts extending down to a 12x12x1-inch anchor plate. Three-quarter-inch diameter headed studs are welded to the steel column flanges for composite action within the pier concrete. The concrete pier is reinforced with vertical pier reinforcement and number 5 ties spaced at 6 inches on center, transitioning to number 5 ties spaced at 3 inches on center within the pile cap zone. Number 4 dowels tie the foundation wall and slab-on-grade reinforcement into the pier assembly.
