A structural steel column base plate is detailed with three-eighths-inch thick by four-inch by zero-foot-six-inch shear plates centered on each side. The shear plates are welded to both the embed and base plates with one-quarter-inch fillet welds. Anchor bolts secure the base plate assembly to the corresponding embed plate layout shown adjacently.
