A steel column connects to a concrete slab on grade and thickened slab footing via a three-quarter-inch thick steel base plate. The base plate rests on a one-inch layer of non-shrink grout and is secured by two-thirds-inch diameter expansion anchors embedded into the concrete. Two distinct base plate configurations are detailed, featuring two-bolt and four-bolt layouts with symmetrical edge distances. A three-sixteenth-inch typical fillet weld joins the steel column to the base plate.
