A single-sided framing connection joins a supported steel beam to a supporting steel beam web using a shear tab welded to the web and bolted to the supported member. Full-height 3/8-inch stiffener plates measuring 3/8 inch by 4 inches minimum are welded to match the beam flange width on each side. Fillet welds of 1/4-inch size are specified on three sides for the stiffener and two sides at the connection interface. Backup plates are welded but omitted from view for clarity.
